The Development Offices were started about 15 years ago. Though the journey was not easy during this period, with lot of difficulties and struggles, by now most of the Provinces have established a Development Office some well organized some have still a long way to go but are on the right track
In the meeting all the participants were asked to take an in depth look at their Development Offices and dream for the future and identify in writing what they want it to be. Each Province was asked to evaluate their present way of working and to look forward. Later the Development Offices were introduced to the principles of capacity building with a view of preparing plans for the reinforcement of capacities in the coming years.
Each Development Office was asked to identify its programme of sustainability and innovativeness at individual, organizational and institutional levels in order to identify the knowledge and skills that still needed to be developed in the coming years.
At present many of the Development Offices are able to support their Provinces in the fulfillment of their mission of serving the deprived youth in line with the Salesian mission. This is the dream all want to reach that is to be a body that will help and support the Provincial and his Council in planning and execution of its mission of helping the youth in need.
