Fratel Héctor arrived in Río Tercero on Saturday 11 September and took part in the activities the young people –guided by the Salesians- are undertaking in the “Magnasco” district, with a festive oratory led by the “Misión Valdocco” Group. He joined in the games, the catechesis and the snack with the young people and then in the Mass with the Scouts from the youth centre. In the evening he led prayer meeting in the Taizé style.
Before beginning Fratel Héctor explained the meaning of Taizé and the work it is doing in the life of faith. He described Taizé as a monastery which open all the year round welcomes numerous groups of young people who go there to meet the living God. Coming from all parts of the world, the youngsters share a simple life with the Brothers of the community, a life of prayer and meetings. The style of community lived by the Brothers of Taizé is the first witness to the unity of Christians (www.taize.fr).
The young people asked Fratel Héctor various questions and watched a DVD which containing people speaking of their experiences, presented the “Pilgrimage of Trust” which will take place in Santiago in Chile between 8 and 12 December next (www.taize.cl). Fratel Héctor is travelling round Argentina inviting young people to take part in this event.
In a simple atmosphere, lit by candles and with youthful hymns, Fratel Héctor led the community prayer, with moments of silence, readings from the Word of God, prayers, invocations and typical Taizé chants.
This prayer meeting in Río Tercero was a sign of unity, which brought together many young people and adults, pleased to have been able to share a real experience of faith and unity.
