Bosco Boys is a project run by the Salesians in Kenya offering hospitality and rehabilitation to street children. The boys and girls took part in this year’s Kenya National Music Festival, an important festival of music for eastern and central Africa involving over 90,000 participants from every country. The young people from the Salesian project represented the province of Nairobi in six categories. They were victorious, with 91.5 points, in the folk dance category and came fourth in the others.
They performed a Bigisu dance, typical of Uganda, on 15 August during the Grand Gala finale of the Kenya National Music Festival and on the 18 August, together with representatives of 24 other schools, they displayed their talents at the State House in Nairobi.
The Salesians working at Bosco Boys, committed to the education of street children, promote all-round development in the style of Don Bosco. Besides ensuring a solid scholastic grounding, they help the boys and girls to discover their own talents and potential through games, art, sports and gymnastics. This important result they have achieved has certainly helped them to believe in themselves more strongly.
