(ANS – Jarabacoa) – The Salesian Past Pupils of Don Bosco celebrated their first Congress on the theme `Our identity and mission as children of Don Bosco`. The meeting took place from 24 to 25 July at the Salesian Centre for Training and Youth Promotion in Pinar Quemado, Jarabacoa.

During the Congress the participants, representatives of the members from six Salesian houses, pursued various objectives: the study and approval of the Statues of the Dominican Federation of Past Pupils of Don Bosco, the election of the president of the Federation and the strengthening of the formation programme.

Further topics were the identity of the Past Pupils of Don Bosco, both a challenge and a responsibility, and relations with the Salesian Family.

Among those present at the meeting were Don Víctor Pichardo, Provincial of the Antilles (ANT), who presided at the concluding Eucharistic Celebration, Kelvin Ovalle, President of the Federation, Don Salvador Romero, Provincial Delegate, and Don José Pastor Ramírez, World Delegate.

Dr Francesco Muceo, Confederal President, sent the Congress members an affectionate greeting, inviting them to train the members of the Association to form social, political and religious links in the context of the Dominican Republic.
