About 800 young people in the last two years of sixth form studies or the first year of university from the schools or parishes of the Salesians and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians were present at the Day organised by the Youth Ministry Team of the Central Africa Province (AFC).
In the course of the Day, now in its second year, the young people were introduced to the religious and lay vocations associated with the Salesian Family.
The theme for the Day inspired by the Synod for Africa held in Rome last autumn was “The Salesian Family at the service of the young for justice, reconciliation and peace.”
Fr Dieudonné Makola, Provincial Delegate for Youth Ministry coordinated the activities and the presentation of the personal experiences of their vocation by some representatives of the groups of the Salesian Family involved in justice, reconciliation and peace.
Fr Pascal Mumba presided at the Sunday Mass. In the afternoon the young people watched an African film, “Le choix” (The choice), about vocations in the church. The Day ended with Fr Jean-Claude Kayumba, Provincial Delegate for Formation encouraging the young people to make a serious choice for their future.
