(ANS - Madrid) – At the beginning of  December in Madrid the Spanish version “Diccionario de Ciencias de la Educación. Edición española”  by Fr José Manuel Prellezo García published by ’”Editorial CCS” of Madrid was presented.

It is not a simple translation of the original “Dizionario di Scienza dell`Educazione” produced by the Education Faculty of the  Salesian Pontifical University in Rome a decade ago nor of the second edition of 2008, but an undated edition specially adapted to readers of Spanish language and culture (Spain and Latin America).

The Dictionary is aimed primarily at students of Education and those training for teaching at university and high school level. But it will also be useful for teachers, educators, parents and all those in general interested in educational and scholastic issues - journalists, politicians, trades unionists - at different levels and in different contexts. In addition, researchers and scholars of education and formation will find in it useful suggestions and material for further fruitful investigation.

In the delicate work of updating and adaptation the following criteria were used: respect for the content, structure and general orientation of the original work, which had met with the approval of the readers of the two Italian editions. The  introduction of new terms, authors and topics significant in the context of the Spanish language such as Josefa Amar y Borbón, Víctor García Hoz, Pedro Roselló, José Pedro Varela. Some particular terms are the specific character of a centre of education, scholastic publishers, Spain: the educational system. Some topics dealt with in the Italian editions have been further developed and expanded with reference to the Spanish-speaking world, and the bibliography has been updated with special regard to authors and works in Spanish.

Collaborating in the publication containing about 1500 entries were 203 experts, from 60 Universities of Higher Institutes of Education in 15 different countries.
