The election took place during the General Assembly of the USG being held today, at the Salesianum in Rome, following the 74th Bi-annual Assembly held on 26 and 27 November. The almost unanimous vote reflected esteem and appreciation for the work undertaken by Fr Chávez in recent years.
Fr Chávez was elected President of the USG for the first time on 24 November 2006.
