Poland – Being among the young in fidelity to Don Bosco |
Poland – The “White Lily” for Fr Paweł Sufleta |
The Seminar tried to answer the question “Why do young men not go to church?” a subject that was examined by various specialists who helped those taking part to reflect on new ways of preaching the Gospel.
The different speakers tried to identify in the light of the obvious distancing of themselves from the community of believers and therefore from the church by young men, what might be the intrinsic and the extrinsic causes from the point of view of the young themselves but also starting from the situation of the Polish Church.
Other questions linked to this main one to which the speakers at the Seminar tried to respond were: “What do you say in order to be listened to?” “How do you speak in order to be listened to?” “How do you listen in order to be able to speak?” and “How to back up what we say?”
Very valuable were the comments of people who are engaged in the evangelisation of young men, including that of Kuba Mańkowski, the leader of the Hip Hop group “Pneuma”, of Ryszard Sadłoń a politician who works in the evangelisation of fans and finally that of Beatrice Lasota, who works with young people who gave those attending the Seminar a version of John’s Gospel in Hip Hop language.
Other useful ways of evangelising in terms of communication were presented such as the student theatre in Lublin, Youtube as a place to contact the young and finally the work being done by the “Revolvika” group which has prepared a form of retreat on a DVD entitled: “The hammer and the anvil.”
