(ANS – Kénitra) – The beginning of the new school year at the Salesian centre in Kénitra, Morocco, got off to a good start on 11 September with the opening of  the new  “Collège Don Bosco” a hostel for the school students attending the “École Don Bosco”.

Built in just 10 months the new structure was made possible thanks to a number of contributions, among them that from the Madrid Province in Spain, obtained with the cooperation of the Spanish Federation of Teaching Religious (FERE). The building was planned and constructed as a natural extension to the existing school so as to provide for youngsters during the phase of compulsory schooling the opportunity of an  education according to Don Bosco’s style.

The new “Collège Don Bosco” accommodates 50 youngsters at present but it is hoped within two years to have room for 150. Some of the rooms in the new building will also be used for the children and youngsters for extra lessons and other forms of educational support. There is also a library  or “Documentation and Information Centre” open to the public and a computer centre available to the boys from the Vocational Training  School in Electronics (JUK-SPEL) and the girls from the Girls’ Training Centre (JUK-CFF).
