The young people involved as catechists of the youngsters in their own communities in Sunday schools honoured the new Blessed choosing him as their Patron and invoking him as “Qech qik`elil, qech aj ral ch`ooch`il, qech qilob`aalil” (one of our own blood, from our own land and our own race.”
The enthronement of the picture of Ceferino appropriately decorated in the Tanchi church was a particularly significant while the young people dressed in their traditional costume played their flutes and tambourines. The Mapuche Blessed was acclaimed by those present with applause, ringing of the bells, fireworks and songs.
At the end of the solemn Mass, the faithful, divided into family groups, passed before the picture of Blessed Ceferino to pay their respects and ask his intercession. In the next few months the picture will be taken in procession to the neighbouring villages.
The Sisters of the Resurrection, a religious Congregation belonging to the Salesian Family, have spoken about the new Blessed on the local radio so that “no Q`eqchi` will not know the marvellous thing that God has done in his son of the land, «jun qech aj ral ch`ooch`il»” (one of our own tribe).
