(ANS - Guadalajara)- When the Mexico-Guadalajara province recently launched an application for smartphones and tablets, the intention was to bring Don Bosco everywhere. The application lets people view Don Bosco digitally animated and enables them to interact with him.

The application, which is free, is available in Spanish for Android devices for phones and tablets based on the iOS system, and allows users to see Don Bosco “in augmented reality” - a concept that refers to the combination of a real environment mixed with design elements produced digitally. In this case, once downloaded and installed from the special market digital application "DonBoscoRA",  the device camera captures the logo of the General Works of Don Bosco - also known as the Salesian logo – and then shows an animation of the saint of youth.

The application allows the user to interact with the virtual Don Bosco, through the buttons shown on the screen. Among other things, the user can hear a prayer of Don Bosco, a Salesian hymn or some advice from Don Bosco, or even take a picture with him.

This is a gift that the Province of Mexico-Guadalajara offers to all who feel attracted to St John Bosco. The intention is not simply to present Don Bosco in a very up-to-date manner. From the pastoral point of view, it is a response to the challenge to use new languages ​​to enable the infinite richness of the Gospel and of the Salesian charism to reach the minds and hearts of young people.

The application was thought of as one more good initiative among the many introduced around the world to celebrate the bicentenary of the birth of Don Bosco.
