Ethiopia – Meeting of Salesian Planning and Development Offices |
(ANS - Addis Ababa) - At the Provincial House of the Vice-Province of Ethiopia, thirty-five Salesians took part in a three-week course from 17 August to 4 September, on issues of international cooperation, human and economic development, and the project cycle.
The course was strongly backed by Fr Estifanos Gebremeskel, Superior of the Vice-Province. It was organized by the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PDO) directed by Salesian Brother Cesare Bullo who works for the Apostolic Prefecture of Gambella, and was coordinated by Antonio Raimondi.
The classes were taught by teachers with extensive experience both academic and practical: Aaron Tesfay, Alberto Botta, Fadi Kattan, Paul Ten and Antonio Raimondi. The aim of the course was to make Salesians, especially young confreres, better prepared culturally to address the issues of international cooperation and development, with the resulting challenges for the education of young people faced with the present day situations and changes.
The visits of the Archbishop of Addis Ababa, Cardinal Berhaneyesus D. Surafel, and the Apostolic Nuncio to the country, Archbishop Luigi Bianco, put a further seal on the validity and practicality of the initiative. All participants were very pleased by what they learned and requested an opportunity to have other formative moments of quality in the future.
