(ANS - Buenos Aires)- As part of the series of visits of the Rector Major to the provinces, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime arrived in Argentina yesterday, 3 September. He will remain until the 17th of the month. He will spend time with the Salesians and the Salesian Family and will be present at a large youth meeting, where about 10,000 young people from across the country are expected. These meetings will form part of the closing celebrations of the Bicentenary of Don Bosco in the south of the American continent.
Twelve centres are ready to host the various delegations that are arriving from all over the country today 4 September when the first meeting with the Rector Major will take place at the San Francis College.
On Saturday 5 September, meetings with the Rector Major will be held in various locations. There will be a meeting with the Salesian Family which will begin with a march of young people from Plaza de los Dos Congregos to Plaza de Mayo, and will end with a big celebration.
On Sunday 6 September there will be the Eucharist at which the Rector Major will preside in the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians and St. Charles, in the harbour district of Almagro.
On the other days of his visit to Argentina, the Rector Major will have various meetings with young people, lay people and Salesians. He will give a retreat for the Salesians in Córdoba from 12 to 17 September. It is intended for the Rectors of the Communities and the Provincial Councils of the two Salesian provinces in Argentina.
