(ANS – Rome) –Appointments made by theGeneral Council of the Congregation continue, during in its summer plenary session: Fr Stefano Vanoli, currently serving in Parma, wasappointedas the new SecretaryGeneral of the Council.

Fr.Vanoli will succeed Fr. Marian Stempel who was appointed in 2002. He has also served as president of the precapitular Juridical Commission of the 26th General Chapter. Fr. Stempel was thanked for his services during his term of office.

StefanoVanoli was born in Varese on March 1, 1968 and entered the novitiate in Pinerolo in 1987. He made his perpetual profession on September 11, 1994 in Sesto San Giovanni, and was ordained a priest on June 15, 1996 in Bologna.

He was rector of “Scuole Professionali Don Bosco” in Milan and of the Salesian houses in Lugano, Switzerland, and in Chiari.

In the Lombardy-EmiliaProvince he was rector from 2000 to 2012, delegate for youth ministry, groups and the Salesian Youth Movement; in 2013 he was appointed in charge of the Mission Office of Turin.

Fr. Vanoli, who was appointed “ad nutum”, will take office fromSeptember 1, 2015.
