The group of young people and their leaders from the Centre, which has already been in action for some months, along with assistance from six NGO representatives working alongside poor youth in the city, prepared a program for the opening events.
Fr John Visser, Rector of the community, and Fr Albeiro Rodas, who is fully involved in the activities of the Centre and heading up the social communication department at the school, cut the ribbon to the new centre which as an auditorium and facilities for conferences, a kitchen and a dormitory.
One hundred children attending the opening ceremony were offered a lunch by the Don Bosco Hotel School. These children included many from displaced families.
The Centre incoporates offices for the Don Bosco Children Fund and the social communications sector.
