(ANS – Rome) – Santa Cruz, Cochabamba, La Paz, Lima, Callao, Brena, Guayaquil, Quito, Cuenca and Macas, are some of the cities the Rector Major Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, will include in his visit. He will arrive at the airport of Viru Viru Santa Cruz-Bolivia on 8 April and will leave Quito, Ecuador to return to Rome on 21 April.  The visit will include meetings with the Salesian confreres, the Salesian Youth Movement and members of the Salesian Family, all in the context of the celebration of the bicentenary of the birth of Don Bosco.

Upon his arrival in Bolivia, the Rector Major will meet the Salesians of the east of the country, in the community of Muyurina. He will also visit the Proyecto Don Bosco in Santa Cruz. In Cochabamba he will have meetings with the Provincial Council, the Salesians of the city and also those of Sucre. In La Paz he will pay a visit to El Alto. In each of these cities he will also meet with the Salesian Family and the SYM.

In Peru, Fr Á.F. Artime will preside at a Mass on 14 April in the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians, at which the whole Salesian Family, friends of the Salesian, students and their families will participate. Among the many events of this segment of the visit, there will be a press conference, a meeting with the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in Brena and a celebration with young people on the evening of Wednesday 15 April.

On 16 April he will arrive in Guayaquil, Eucador, and will be welcomed at the Casa Don Bosco by the children and young people of the Chicos de la Calle Project. In Quito he will have a series of meetings. These will include one with the Salesians in formation in the Don Bosco Institute at La Kennedy; one with the staff of the Salesian Polytechnic University, and other meetings with the young people of the Salesian centres, the FMA, the Daughters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary and the Volunteers of Don Bosco. In Cuenca, the Rector Major will participate in the National Meeting of the SYM. In Macas, as well as meeting members of the Salesian Family and young people, he will also meet the missionaries of the Apostolic Vicariate.
