(ANS - Rome) - Don Bosco Boys' Town was founded over 65 years ago to help poor children. Originally it cared for the shoeshine boys of Rome. Now it offers support to young people who find themselves in difficult social situations and at risk of delinquency. As Easter draws near the oratory at Borgo Ragazzi is selling Easter eggs, with the proceeds going to support summer activities for disadvantaged young people.

In July every year the oratory runs a programme calledEstate Ragazzi, with educational activities for youngsters aged between 8 and 13. In addition to providing a safe place for the children during the school holidays, this initiative is intended above all to give the young people an experience of knowing that they are loved. It also aims to teach them the importance of living life consciously, finding meaning in small daily actions.

To support these summer activities for underprivileged children, the oratory this year is promoting the sale of Easter eggs. They weigh 150 grams and are of milk chocolate or dark chocolate. They can be bought or booked until 22 March. The minimum contribution is €6 per egg, or €10 for two. The proceeds will go to needy children and their families to enable them to participate in Estate Ragazzi.

This is not only a way to raise funds, but also to raise awareness of the conditions in which many young people live, and to give people a way to help them.
