(ANS - Rome) – In the winter session of the Council, the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, having heard the opinion of his Council, has appointed Fr Miguel Ángel Nguema as the new Superior for the Vice-Province of Equatorial Tropical Africa; and Fr Francisco Batista for the Province of the Antilles. Both will exercise develop their ministry of animation and government in the six-year period from 2015 to 2021.
Fr Miguel Angel Nguema is the current Vicar of the Vice-Province of Equatorial Tropical Africa. He was born on 13 July 1970 in Mokomo, Equatorial Guinea. He made his first profession on 13 August 1992 in Lome, Togo, and his perpetual profession on 19 September 1998 in Bata, Equatorial Guinea. Here too he was ordained priest on 24 July 2000. He has held various positions: Bursar in Pointe-Noire, Republic of Congo (2001-2004); Rector of the Vice-Provincial House in Yaounde, Cameroon, (2005-2008) and Director of the oratory of Yaounde from 2011 until the present. He has also been Delegate for Youth Ministry in the Vice-Province.
Francisco Batista was born on 26 August 1953 in La Torre-La Vega in the Dominican Republic. He is currently Rector and Parish Priest at Mao. He did his novitiate in La Vega, where he made his first profession on 16 August 1975. He made his perpetual profession in Rome on 13 September 1981. He was ordained in Santo Domingo on 16 July 1983. He has held various responsibilities in the Province of the Antilles as Vicar and Economer, and as Rector of various Salesian works in Jarabacoa, Santo Domingo, La Vega and finally Mao. He is currently a member of the Provincial Council.
