(ANS - Rome) - The “Don Bosco in the World” Foundation is an organization of the Salesian Congregation which seeks to finance the Salesian missions in hot spots of the world. This year, as in previous years, it is organizing the “Race of the Saints", and, at the same time, holding a fundraiser for the project "Ebola – let’s stop it now.”

The "Race of the Saints" is a track event open to professional and amateur athletes, held in Rome on 1 November. It starts and finishes near St Peter’s Square.  Last year’s race had more than five thousand participants in the two sections, and it is hoped that this year the number will reach six thousand.

The event will be televised live by Channel 5 with a Special one-hour programme on TG5. The broadcast will follow the race but above all, it will describe in detail, with the help of witnesses and protagonists, a project called "Ebola – let’s stop it now.” It is a project to accommodate orphans and all who are affected by the Ebola virus, and to help them with healthcare training, and when necessary with treatment, as requested by the local Salesian Province of West Africa.

Television viewers will be asked repeatedly to send small donations by telephone. The race will be supported by Mediafriends with a spot campaign on Mediaset commencing fifteen days prior to the race.  

On 28 October at 11.00 a.m. at the Capitol, there will be a press conference attended by senior representatives of the event including representatives of the Salesian Congregation, the city government, the Sports Organizing Association,  and athletes from various sports groups.
