(ANS - Alaknanda) - Policies for child protection are a concrete expression of commitment to the welfare, protection and social development of children and young people. For this reason, the management and staff of the Salesian School in Alaknanda, in the Province of New Delhi, have decided to adopt specific policies for Child Protection.

The new year at the Salesian School in Alaknanda started with a seminar given by Fr Babu Varghese, Rector and Dean, on the importance and necessity of protection of minors.

Fr Varghese presented the various types of abuse and violations of children's rights that exist within society. He went on to speak about the scale of severity of abuse, so as to make everyone aware of the gravity of such criminal acts and their implications in the context of human rights violations. It is clear that there is no time to waste in opposing such acts and in the work of educating children about their rights.

The seminar concluded with the commitment of all staff members to adopt the Salesian Policies for the Protection of the Child, 2014.  These point out that the whole formation community shares responsibility and a sense of duty in "caring for the needs of young people and supporting them to achieve their potential, so that they can enjoy life to the fullest."
